The Xaverian Files

Hello and welcome to another week of the podcast. On this episode we feature the history of the hallmark holiday, and a special guest with some Nova Scotia poetry.

January is pride month at StFX, and we’re celebrating with an episode featuring the LGBTQ community at X! Join Lauren as she interviews Dr.

Welcome to another episode of The Xaverian Files.

Happy New Year to the Xavarian family! Today we are joined by guest Dr. Langdon to discuss some resolutions for 2021 everyone should consider.

It's that time of year again! For this special episode we take a deep dive into (allegedly) the third most recognized ring in the world.

This episode features Devon Parris, a fourth year English student at StFX University.

Join us this week to dive into the spooky side of Antigonish! We chat some local folklore and supernatural sightings and consult a real witch on the Pagan significance of Halloween.

This weeks episode is just your gals, Lauren, Grace and Hannah chatting about Thanksgiving and taking a deep dive into the silver linings of 2020.

Description: Students are at a fragile time in their life. They usually do not have a fixed income, yet they have several expenses. On top of that, they are told to start investing.

This weeks episode is dedicated to another epidemic facing the university crowd: homesickness.

This one is for the freshmen. The Xaverian Files team hopes this podcast will help guide your first month in classes and keep some of your stress at bay.

We’ve all got a story of why we came to St. Francis Xavier University.

As one of few Canadian universities reopening its doors to in-person education this fall, St.

Who We Are

Hannah Macdonell

Hannah is from Ottawa, Ontario and is in her final year at StFX University pursuing two bachelor’s degrees in Computer Science and the Climate and Environment program. As an avid podcast fan, she’s excited to be able to contribute to The Xaverian Files and engage with the StFX and Antigonish community. When not in class, Hannah is usually cooking up some mean curries, hanging with friends, or out for a run. This summer, she is working as a researcher at Carleton University developing a climate modelling software.

Grace Moffatt

Grace Moffatt is a fourth-year student at StFX University, pursuing a major in Biomedical Health Sciences and a minor in Social Determinants of Health. Grace is the president of Enactus StFX, a non-profit organization committed to reducing injustices in the local and global community through social entrepreneurship. Grace is eager to create a sense of community togetherness in the midst of this challenging time through the creation of the first-ever StFX Podcast, “The Xaverian Files.” In addition, she is the Director of Communications and Marketing for the Xavierian Leaders at large.

Lauren Sobot

Lauren Sobot is a fourth-year student at StFX University pursuing a Joint Honours degree in Biology and Psychology. She has been a campus tour guide since first year, so she’s no stranger to talking about all things StFX - which comes in handy for her work on The Xaverian Files podcast! In the summer of 2020, she can be found at Dalhousie University playing with DNA in a microbiology lab. In her free time, she’s an aspiring polyglot, a (very) amateur musician, and a black belt who’s not all that great at karate.
