Elizabeth graduated from StFX with an honours degree in Human Kinetics, which she followed up with a Master’s degree in Global Health. She completed her fellowship placement with the Navigation Protection Program at Transport Canada, working with the Vessels of Concern team as well as the Program Design and Strategic Partnerships team. During her placement she, worked mainly on Indigenous engagement files and developed policy to guide how we can address navigation concerns related to reduced water levels and flow on Canadian navigable waters. 

A highlight of her placement was getting to work on a high-profile major project proposal going through the environmental assessment process with the Impact Assessment Agency of Canada, and getting to prepare documents that were Transport's contribution as an expert federal authority.
